Review + Haul: Wildfox Couture Jumpers/Sweatshirts

I've been on a huge Wildfox Couture kick lately. I think being on summer vacation has given me (almost too much) time to peruse YouTube and find many beauty gurus' fashion hauls featuring this brand. I'd first taken notice of this brand a few years ago when all the celebrities were wearing the Lennon Sweater, and I must admit, back then I thought these oversized sweaters were unflattering. But just as fashion evolves, so have my tastes. With the return of 90's oversized grunge, I've let go (just a little) of my tastes for well tailored clothing and have embraced the looser, slouchier look.

And I think a lot of it has to do with The Mindy Project. I started watching this show from the beginning and instantly fell in love with Mindy's character. And then I quickly took notice of her clothing. She is frequently seen wearing Wildfox Couture, and each time she looks so effortlessly fashionable.

So I became obsessed and would constantly peruse the internet for these comfy jumpers, which led to perusing YouTube for sample sale haul videos. And then yesterday I decided to check out Saks Off 5th and found some pretty good deals on a few jumpers.

It's true what everyone says about these sweaters - they are the softest things ever. But pricey! I'm absolutely shocked that I would spend nearly $50 on a sweatshirt, but they are so comfortable and the designs are quirky that I felt I could somewhat justify the price. Plus, these jumpers originally retail for $100+ so $50 isn't so bad (although I hear these usually go for about $30 at sample sales - oh how I wish I lived in California sometimes!) This Eiffel Tower one caught my eye because my husband and I have been to Paris before and it reminded me of our vacation together. I had the hardest time deciding which sizes to get. They are meant to be worn oversized and baggy, but I just couldn't decide how baggy I wanted them to be. In the end I decided on the XS, but am stilling having some regret because I think I might actually want it to be baggier. The sleeves are quite long, going way past my hands so I had to bunch them up at my wrists, but again, it's meant to have that casual vintage look.

Here's what a small looks like. Just slightly baggier, but I like it! Kinda makes me wanna exchange my extra-smalls for smalls. I keep on looking at styling photos online and I think this is one of the rare times that baggier looks better. I was attracted to this sweater because my son, who's about 20 months old now, just recently learned the word "bunny" and says it constantly, so this cute sweater reminds me of him :)

I had been wanting this particular sweater for a long time simply because I love ice cream! The white is a bit too stark white for my taste - I kinda wish it were more of an off white, creamy color, but the ice cream cone makes up for that :)

This is by far my favorite one because it couldn't be more true! I do work out, but I absolutely hate cardio. I still do it, but begrudgingly (in case you're curious, my workouts consist of a combination of weight training and cardio - I usually do 4-5 sets of weights with 5 minutes of cardio in between, just to break it up. I can't do cardio for too long because I get bored...and because I hate it that much!) I don't care too much for the ombre look of this sweater, but I love the saying so much that I can overlook that. I even own a tank top version of this sweater in yellow that I love and is perfect for summer.

I'm super excited about these dresses as I've been eyeing them for months, and now they're both on sale for a great price. I don't have any Orla Kiely for People Tree pieces, so I'm excited to own something from this Fair Trade company. My only concern is that the smallest size they offer these dresses in is a UK8, which is a US4. I have several other Orla Kiely clothing items, all UK6 (US2) and they fit me great, so I'm a little worried these dresses will be a bit too big. Even several of the reviews online say this dress runs large. But I guess I'll just have to wait and see. Once these items are delivered to me, I'll write a haul post and review and let you know how they fit and feel.

Orla Kiely + Gilt Haul: Huckleberry Bag

I received my Patent Leather Huckleberry Bag over the weekend, a gift from my Mom that she purchased from Gilt.com!

This bag is super pretty, and very unique! It's shaped just like a binocular bag, complete with lid and turnlock closure.

The inside features a jacquard stem print lining, one pocket, and attached key ring.

The inside has just enough room to hold a wallet, cell phone, keys, and some sunglasses.

This bag is SUPER pink, with even brighter neon pink stitching, which I think is great for the summer. My only concern is the front perforation, which looks like it wasn't punched in all the way (see picture above), but seems like an easy enough fix if I take a toothpick and poke the rest out.

There's an adjustable strap, but even on the shortest setting, this bag is meant to be worn long over the shoulder, or as a crossbody purse.

The strap detailing continues along side the purse all the way to the bottom, which has gold "feet".

The back of the purse features the same perforated design.

I typically go for purses with a signature Orla Kiely pattern, so I'm surprised by how intrigued I am with this croc embossed leather bag. Aside from the logo on the reverse side, there are no tell-tale signs that this is an Orla Kiely purse (unless of course you open it up to see the classic stem print lining). But I still love the overall design. Maybe it's the simplicity or the chain strap that remind me of those classic Chanel flap bags, or maybe it's because after recently cleaning my purse closet, I realized that I had plenty of patterned purses with hardly any simple classic ones, but I'm smitten with this bag.

I'm so excited shoes are included in this sale, but so bummed that they no longer have the Milly Shoe in my size. However, I noticed in the last email I received from the Orla Kiely Mercer Street store, they wrote "orders placed by telephone are always welcomed!" I wonder if this means I can call their store to place an order and have it shipped to me in Florida. I hope so! Maybe that means I can snatch up some things I wanted from this sale that are already sold out on the website. Wish me luck!

Orla Kiely Bath and Fragrance

I recently got a few Orla Kiely bath and fragrance items, which are my first ever, so I'm excited to share my thoughts on them with you (and yes, I painted an Orla Kiely accent wall in my house - more on that in an upcoming post!).

First up is this Earl Grey Diffuser. It has a very strong, clean, almost spring/outdoorsy scent that diffuses quickly, which I really like. Currently, this diffuser is only sold from the Orla Kiely UK site, but if you live in the US you can also find it at Beauty Habit (plus, you can find the Earl Grey Scented Candle on the US site).

The diffuser comes in a 100-ml glass with a classic grey and black acorn print, befitting the name. Even when the liquid runs out, you can still refill the glass with other fragrances, or simply recap it and put it on display, which is what I plan on doing.

Now, onto the bath items! I got a shower gel and hand cream, both in the bergamot scent. They are both currently sold on the UK site as well as Beauty Habit if you live in the US.

This shower gel almost feels too luxurious to use. I have a problem when it comes to having items that I consider really special - I never want to use them because I want them to last forever! But I'm getting better at that because I don't want my things to go to waste, especially with something as nice as this shower gel. It makes a very nice lather in my loofah, and has a scent true to what's described on the back of the bottle (see below). And even though this is not an exfoliating scrub, it left my skin feeling extra smooth and soft. 

I absolutely love hand creams. I think it's so important to apply at least twice a day to keep your hands, and especially cuticles, looking nice and moisturized. It also helps your manicure look that much better. I've used hand creams from Sally Hansen, Cath Kidston, and Neutrogena, but of course, I think this one's my favorite, not only because of the absolutely adorable print and packaging, but because it leaves my hands super soft and has the most amazing light scent that lingers for a long time. It has a nice thick consistency that absorbs quickly. I also love how it feels so lightweight and non-greasy, but manages to keep my hands feeling soft and moisturized, even after washing.
