Orla Kiely Baby Bags

This season, Orla Kiely has created a line of baby bags, something I'm quite excited for since becoming a second-time mom not too long ago. Each style is just a slightly altered version of her original line - a bit larger to accommodate all the things you would need to carry around for a baby and includes a changing mat - so these pieces can easily transition to everyday bags once you and your little one have outgrown the need to carry a baby bag.

Orla Kiely recently debuted on QVC in the US, which was pretty exciting news for many fans since they released a limited edition version of the super popular Dog Show print. There are two bag styles available - the Midi Sling (shown above) and the Zip Messenger below. The Green Dog Show print is completely new, having only been previously available in a brown colorway, which is still one of my all-time favorite bags (see my Thursday Purseday post here and outfit here). I still prefer the brown version to this latest release, but I still do quite like the green colorway here. The Midi Sling style, however, isn't a favorite of mine, so I'm hoping they will perhaps release this print in other styles (I'd love a small cross body version!) Would love to see more items available at QVC - it's always exciting to see Orla Kiely here in the US!

What I love about this collection are all the baby items available, especially since I became a second-time mom not too long ago :) My baby girl is 7-months-old now, so I definitely still have some use for the baby bags featured here. I especially love the Backpack Baby Bag, an updated version of the Backpack Tote that now includes two side pockets and a changing mat. It appears the baby bags in this collection are made of laminated canvas, whereas the rest of the collection is nylon (at least according to the descriptions. I can't really tell from the photos as they all look like they are made from same material). I am also loving the Luggage Large Rucksack, another great item for travel (and I could even see this being used as a baby bag as well). 

Another item I am so curious about is the Cross Body/Belt Bag (which doesn't appear to be showing up online yet, but it is featured in the lookbook). I know this is gonna be another one of those polarizing trends - you're either gonna love it or hate it. And I'm on the side that loves it!

These bags can also be worn as a shoulder bag, so you can get the same look as the Small Cross Body shown above. 

Once again, there is a suitcase featured in the Sixties Stem print that I am so excited for! Hoping these make it to the website soon!

There are several awesome new pieces included in Orla Kiely's Stem collection, which I discussed in more detail with the Spring Bloom Vinyl line. This Sixties Stem Vinyl collection has the same pieces with the addition of the Luggage Large Pouch, a great little accessory that I think would be perfect for organizing your purse as it's quite a good size and the vinyl material is quite durable. I really like the Kingfisher colorway of this collection - such a pretty deep blue color with little pops of red. This collection also features the new Stem Flower printed lining.

What I'm looking forward to most, however, are the new luggage pieces! They are shown in the lookbook and I have seen a few pics on Instagram from those lucky enough to live near one of Orla Kiely's shops, but I have yet to see them on the website. They did appear briefly on ChrisElli's website, but for some reason they are no longer showing up and I'm wishing I had captured the product shots before they disappeared. I know they will show up online soon enough, but I'm just so excited about them! I have far too many luggage pieces already since Orla Kiely did a travel collection for Target, but a part of me would like to upgrade to these pieces. The vinyl material would definitely make these suitcases more durable than the polyester from the Target line, which from my experience, is prone to staining. I would love to upgrade to some travel items that require less maintenance and can withstand...well, travel.

Featured here is the Luggage Work Bag, which is quite a good size. I'm just loving the way these two pieces look together! It's been so long since Orla Kiely created travel pieces, and while I'm fortunate enough to have gotten the multi-color Large Car Medium Tote for my birthday several years ago, along with its matching travel beauty case, I did miss out on all the suitcases. So I'd love to be able to add a travel piece from Orla Kiely's main line to my collection, and this Sixties Stem version just might be it!

Orla Kiely SS18 Stem: Spring Bloom Vinyl in Ruby

There are so many new things about Orla Kiely's latest Stem collection. Previously, these bags have been available in mostly laminated canvas or nylon. This season, however, they are available in textured vinyl. Orla Kiely uses vinyl all the time in her Mainline collection, particularly with the Jeanie and Tillie styles. But I believe this is the first time that her classic Stem pieces are available in vinyl.

I particularly like the vinyl version of the Zip Holdall, as I think it would make a very durable travel bag.

Another nice change is the interior, which now has a Stem Flower printed lining.

There are also several new pieces included in this collection. First up is the Work Bag, which I think is so great for carrying your laptop, folders, or any papers you might need for work.

It looks like the Cross Body is the newer version of the Travel Pouch. I think this replacement is a great idea as the Cross Body has a bit more depth to it, adjustable straps, and an exterior pocket.

Several pieces in this collection are definitely designed for travel. As the name would suggest, this Luggage Flight Bag would make a great carry-on.

Luggage Cosmetic Bag

Creating a textured vinyl version of the cosmetic bag also makes this a great travel piece as the surface can easily be wiped clean.

It's so exciting that Orla Kiely has also included a Passport Cover and Luggage Tag in this collection. These items were available in a previous collaboration with Target, and I'm excited to see that Orla Kiely has created updated versions for her main line.

Orla Kiely SS18 Stem: Matt Laminated Scallop Flower in Blush and Denim

Scallops are one of my absolute favorite designs, so I was thrilled to see that Orla Kiely incorporated them into her Stem collection with the Scallop Flower print in Blush and Denim. Both colorways are so cute, but I'm leaning just a tad bit more towards the Blush.

My favorite style from this collection is probably the Small Backpack Tote (not to be confused with the Small Backpack, which has a more square shape). I prefer the rounded corners of this version, and I also like the simple added touch of the leather tabs on the shoulder straps. What I'm not too crazy about, however, is the snap closure on the front pocket. While it does look cute, I prefer a zip closure for added security.

I'm also curious about the Small Zip Messenger, which is a relatively new style. The original Zip Messenger has been around for many seasons, and while I do own just one of these bags in the Tulip Stem print (see past OOTDs here and here), I just don't find myself reaching for it that often because of its size. Nowadays, I tend to like smaller bags, and while I do need larger ones for work, for some reason I don't reach for this particular style. Perhaps it's because I prefer my sturdier vinyl or leather bags for work, while I save my canvas bags for weekends and casual outings. I believe the Zip Messenger is shown on the model below, but I would love to see how the smaller version looks on someone.

I'm not sure why certain styles are only showing up in one colorway online. This also seems to be the case for the Small Cross Body and Medium Zip Wallet down below.
