Haul + Review: Orla Kiely Bath Mats from Burlington

Ever since I discovered that Burlington sells Orla Kiely, I've been slightly obsessed with checking out their store every chance I get. Even during a recent out-of-town trip, I managed to stop by a Burlington store and found a few of these Orla Kiely bath mats...for only $6.99 each!

I actually already had a pair of the Mushroom colorway that I got from Overstock last year for $40 each and I thought that was a steal considering these retail for $65 each. But wow, at only $6.99 each, I ended up getting a backup pair of the Mushroom color, as well as a pair of the Slate (shown here) and Duck Egg colorways. I have spotted the Cream, White, and Clementine colors in stores as well, but they don't go with the motif of my bathrooms so I decided to leave those behind. 

So when I originally started searching Burlington for Orla Kiely, it was because I was tipped off by one of my readers who found towels and even pillows at her location. I did score a few Sculpted Stem hand towels last month, and I wasn't expecting to find these bath mats. But one day while perusing the aisles, I found a couple on a bottom shelf. Now these bath mats are pretty plain, but they were folded with the tag sticking out, so that's how I spotted them. After that, I began searching all the shelves and found several, but they were all squished between other bath mats, very inconspicuously placed, so you really have to search for them. 

These Slate bath mats are really grey in color, although in some lighting, such as the photos below, they can appear to be bluish-grey. 

Here's the underside of the bath mats. As you can see, they are unlined, so you would have to get a rug stay for them. Personally, I think for bath mats that retail for so much, they should have some kind of cushioning underneath or at least be lined, so I'm glad I got these all for such a great price. 

These bath mats are from the Sculpted Stem collection, which is aptly named. Over time, however, the mats become so matted down from being stepped on that they lose their texture so the Stem becomes less visible. I mean, it doesn't completely disappear, but you have to wash and dry them quite often if you want to keep them looking fluffy and new.

They are 100% cotton and machine washable. The ones I bought last year have held up quite well and look new whenever I wash them. 

Haul + Review: Orla Kiely for Clarks Bibi Shoes

Yellow is probably my current favorite color, so it was easy deciding which pair of the Orla Kiely Bibi shoes to get. This style was available in Yellow, Pink, and Tan (still available here, here, and here). All the colors are lovely, but I don't yet have a yellow pair of heels, so I thought this sunny shade would be a fun addition to my shoe collection.

I initially got a size 7, but eventually exchanged them for a 6.5, which is definitely the better fit. I'm usually a size 7, so I'd say these run large. I've been running into this issue a lot with these Orla Kiely for Clarks shoes - they seem to run long and narrow. The width on these, however, was perfect and did not feel tight across the front, which is the issue I had with the Orla Bobbies. The 7s in the Bibis were just a bit too long, but sizing down half a size fixed that problem and now they are the perfect fit. They are super comfy right out of the box, and I don't think I'll have to break these in. 

The only other issue I had with this pair was the right shoe had a scuff mark on the front (you can see this a little better in the picture below). Since I ended up exchanging this pair, I didn't have to worry about it, but it was kind of a bummer for a brand new pair of shoes.

There's a beautiful cutout detail on the front.

There's a side buckle that's actually made of patent leather, something I wasn't expecting because it's really hard to tell form the photos online. It's an interesting touch, and I totally don't mind it, but I probably would've preferred just regular leather to match the rest of the shoe.

A T-strap front.

A nice chunky low heel that will make these shoes bearable to walk and stand in for long periods of time, which is always a plus for a teacher like me.

And of course, a gorgeous bottom that will inevitably get scuffed, but at least there's a portion that will never touch the ground and stay intact.

Price Reduction on Orla Kiely Multi Stem Pitcher and Storage Jar

Orla Kiely Brabantia Bins Available at Scandinavian Design

When Orla Kiely's UK/Worldwide site began selling the Brabantia bins, I was super excited...that is, until I realized they were only sold within the UK. I was bummed when I found out they wouldn't ship to the US, but thanks to Jon B. for informing me that Scandinavian Design sells them AND ships to the US!

Happy Saturday, folks! It's actually already pretty late where I'm at, but I finally got a chance to do a little blogging this evening, so I decided on a quick and simple outfit post. I actually wore this out to dinner last night with my family. It's been pretty hot here lately, even during the evenings with temperatures in the upper 80s, and this outfit kept me fairly comfortable.

This is probably one of my favorite tops (for obvious reasons) paired with one of my favorite skirts. I've been waiting for retailers like Target or Forever 21 to make more of these midi-length skirts because I have been obsessed with them lately and I want them in a whole bunch of colors. I know ModCloth has quite a few, but they're about $50 each. This one here was only $14.90! It is made of rayon, however, so it wrinkles like crazy, but I don't think it looks too bad. I love the button front and the fact that it has pockets!
